Celebrate 25 years of armed annelids with Worms Armageddon – Anniversary Edition on Sept. 26th

Wow, we’re feeling old. Somehow, Team17 is celebrating 25 years (a quarter of a century!) of Worms, and we were there for day 1. So to celebrate that milestone Team17 Digital and Digital Eclipse have announced a September 26th, 2024 release of Worms Armageddon – Anniversary Edition for all the available console platforms.

Worms Armageddon – Anniversary Edition is not a remake nor a remaster, it’s mostly just a content complete, enhanced release for a new generation of gamers willing to check out a game focused on turn-based armed annelids at war.  There are some extras and updates though, including a redesigned UI, reworked controller support, Trophies and Achievements, a multitude of graphical modes, an interactive museum, a new save system, cross generation online play support and even a playable Game Boy Color version of Worms Armageddon.

Oh and if you can’t get enough of Worms, there’s even a Worms: The Board Game release on the way next month.

Check out the announcement trailer and some other details, and stay tuned for the explosive launch.

Worms Armageddon Anniversary Edition:

Team17 Digital and Digital Eclipse, have a very special announcement for fans of one of the most recognisable and beloved games of all time – Worms. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Worms Armageddon and the creators of the game wanted to bring the Armageddon experience to a new generation of players as well as evoke the fond memories of those that played the game when it first came out.

This Anniversary edition will be released on September 26th and will now allow console players a chance to get stuck into the artillery insanity of worms, for the first time. The developers have poured a lot of love into the enhancements, with many quality-of-life improvements and a completely redesigned UI across all platform versions.

Additional Features:

  • Optimized controller support for all consoles.
  • Achievements and Trophies
  • New display features such as modern aspect ratios, custom screen filters, enhanced HD and graphics options.
  • Fully playable Game Boy Color version of Worms Armageddon
  • An interactive museum that charts the history of the entire series. Featuring never-before-seen interviews with developers of the original and current games.
  • New save system

Worms Armageddon will feature online support, allowing up to six players to team-up or compete. Online is cross-generation so PS4 and PS5 owners will be able to play against each other, as well Xbox One and Xbox Series owners.

Fans of the franchise can also look forward to bringing the mayhem of Worms right to their table with Worms: The Board Game created by Mantic Games, which was successfully Kickstarted within 13 minutes of going live. It’ll be available September 9th 2024.

Worms Armageddon – Anniversary Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5.
